I know, I know the pictures say week 1…but what I MEAN is it’s one week of growth and since I am already behind in posting I wasn’t going to go back and mark the photos differently.
It was an excellent week of growth (and you’ll have to trust me that I did, in fact take this photos on Sunday). Three of our four trays took off. The best being the Zinnias, followed by the Butterfly Weed (total shocker!), then the Coleus and last but not least…zero visible growth from the lavender. Admittedly we may have covered them too much to get the required light..but hey…that’s why we’re experimenting and documenting. I read that lavender takes time and to be patient…so we wait…maybe not so patiently but we will wait.
ZINNIAS

These things took off. I really think letting them sit in a damp paper towel really helps speed up this process. I had to thin them out so I carefully went through and pulled the the smaller seedlings and am now crossing my fingers I didn’t do it too early!

You can see how many seedling I had to discard. Maybe next year we will have either more or just larger trays. But for this year I had to pull these little buggers.
BUTTERFLY WEED
I am pretty darned excited by the progress of these seeds. These are a perennial and I am so excited to maybe have a few plants to work with. This is the one that keeps dying in my front yard! I can’t wait to see where we’re at in another week. I think I will have to thin these out this coming weekend for sure.

COLEUS
These are also popping up…but I am unsure if i should be thinning them out at all. These ones were the tiniest of seeds that kept sticking to the paper towel so I just left them on the paper towel when I planted. These do so well in our back yard (I’ll dig out a picture of how BIG last year’s plan got in the coming weeks). I still need to research if I will need to thin these at all.

LAVENDER
So bummed we haven’t seen a peep from these but in my research I read that they really take some time to germinate. So I will be patient…I will be patient…keep reminding me! Man if these work I would be so excited!!

Okay…that’s week one in a nutshell. Here’s hoping I have even more to update you all on for week 2 of growth (week 3 of Seedling Sunday).
